Mental Health First Aid

Alexander Jewish Family Service, envisions a community in which Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is as common as CPR. Just as CPR training helps a person with no clinical training assist an individual in medical distress, MHFA training provides tools to assist someone experiencing mental distress. The goal is to support an individual until appropriate professional help.

The Community Intervention Team at Alexander JFS are National Instructors for Mental Health First Aid.

‍What you will learn:

• MHFA is a skills-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to a mental health or substance use challenge.
• A 5-step Action Plan to recognize warning signs, provide help in crisis and non-crisis situations, and identify additional resources
• Identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental health condition or addiction.
• Grow your knowledge of signs, symptoms, and risk factors of mental health conditions and addictions.
