Count Me In

Giving the Gift of Hanukkah to Others

Our mission is to unite the community to brighten the lives of Jews of all ages by providing a donated gift card to purchase gifts and ritual items during the Hanukkah season. Each year Count Me In donates thousands of gifts to hundreds of children and adults during the Hanukkah season. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Holocaust Survivors

The remaining Holocaust survivors in our community are aging and in need of home-care to be able to stay in their residence.

Join us in support of our survivors. For this population, it is particularly important to avoid institutionalization, which may re-traumatize a survivor. As the remaining survivors age, Alexander JFS is honored to administer a home-care grant from the Conference on Material Claims Against Nazi Germany. This allows the agency precious resources to give dignity in the final years of a survivor's life.

Even with these funds, gaps remain. Often a survivor will cap their benefits by November and be faced with institutionalization at the end of the year until their benefits start again in January. When there is no family to provide funding, the survivor is faced with institutionalization.

Please join us to provide resources to allow survivors to stay in their own homes during the short period when benefits expire. Collectively, we are their family.

Passover Assistance

Alexander Jewish Family Service provides Passover assistance meals to Jewish families and seniors throughout Houston. Each year, for many decades, this mitzvah has been performed by Alexander JFS through the generous contributions of community donors who want to ensure that everyone has the food they need for Passover.

Last year, we served over 330 families. In this economic climate, we anticipate the requests for help to significantly increase. We hope you consider giving generously to the Goldye Mariam & Samuel W. Spain Passover Assistance Program

If you or someone you know is in need of financial assistance to prepare your Passover Seder meal, please call (713) 667-9336. Russian speaker call (713) 986-7847) Your compassionate mitzvah will help so much and in such a meaningful way. Know that when you sit down to your Seder, you have helped fellow Jews in Houston have food for Passover.
