Position Summary

Intake coordinators work with clients requesting service to determine needs and make appropriate referrals as well as schedule services at JFS as indicated. The Intake Coordinator functions as part of a team of the Case Management team and needs to be able to work independently with little to no supervision. Intake coordinator would be required to maintain a small caseload of existing clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial evaluations to determine the services needed for each potential client
  • For clients who are not eligible, provide information and referrals to fit their needs.
  • Enter admissions information into digital system and complete all admission paperwork
  • Verify benefit eligibility and application for benefits
  • Support clients in making applications for benefits to which they are entitles
  • Answer all incoming calls, respond to questions and explain the intake process.
  • Attend all training sessions that are required by JFS and/or any of its funders or partners
  • Participate in regular CEU trainings, and consultations by Psychiatric partners
  • Schedule appointments, evaluations, meetings, and consultations for patients
  • Perform various clerical work that includes filing, copying, and faxing.
  • Ensure that client calls and services are documented in the electronic health system, including information and referral calls

Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and active listening skills to evaluate clients and assess their care needs
  • Excellent customer service skills to answer questions and guide clients through the intake process
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as ability to use Zoom effectively as well as to document and run reports from the electronic health record
  • Excellent time management skills to schedule appointments for clients and manage multiple clients at once
  • Education and Training High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field of study preferred
  • Ability to work full-time, flexibility in hours including some Sundays and some evening meeting
  • Ability to be mobile and work remotely at satellite offices
  • Physical requirements: must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20-pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment
