As we finished our Pesach leftovers and stowed away our unique Pesach items for next year, I was reminded of one of the primary concepts of the Pesach Haggadah, which is V’higadita Levincha, (“And You shall teach your children”).

Much of Jewish culture and ritual is steeped in family life. But, for one in eight couples who face infertility, holidays can highlight their very sad reality.

This week is National Infertility Awareness week. A week designated to increase awareness for those who struggle with infertility. Alexander Jewish Family Service is proud to affiliate with the organization, Yesh Tikvah, and its mission to support people facing infertility.

Gittel Francis, LMSW, is a behavioral mental health service community intervention specialist at Alexander JFS. In her role, she hosts trainings and lectures on a range of topics to increase mental health literacy and decrease stigma. Francis manages the Alexander JFS Mental Health First Aid program and holds the title of national instructor in Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
