The concept of gratitude is as ancient as time itself and seems to adapt through the ages to inspire a tender, yet very personal meaning. During the times of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, Bikurim was the spring tradition. Thousands of farmers from all over Israel made the yearly pilgrimage to Jerusalem with their first crops to offer gratitude to G-d for the bountiful blessings. Farmers in faraway isolated cities relished the connections with other farmers and enjoyed the moments of this great opportunity.
