This continuing education event teaches participants the theory and foundational skills of Theraplay. Participants will learn the four Theraplay dimensions of Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge and how they are selected to target children's needs and address behavior problems. Participants will practice Theraplay skills and interventions in an interactive learning format. Training will be live and in-person only. At the end of this workshop, the learner will be able to:
Recite the core theoretical concepts of Theraplay
Demonstrate basic knowledge of the Theraplay model as a model of Play Therapy3
Describe how the Theraplay dimensions of Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge are used to meet children’s needs and address behavior problems
Demonstrate two activities from each of Theraplay’s four dimensions5.
Explain how the MIM is utilized to assess the parent-child relationship and to plan treatment
Describe how Theraplay interactions are conducted to address trauma

Registration refunds must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the class date and only 75% of the purchase price will be refunded.

It is the responsibility of the participant to review and follow the instructions and guidelines of Association for Play Therapy to apply for and attain all requirements for Registered Play Therapist credential. Alexander JFS is not responsible for completing the credentialing applications of participants and cannot guarantee that participant’s applications will be approved.
